You may consider Ayurvedic cosmetics as a misnomer, but if we were to break this down, what we are left with is natural beauty are products for you.
To clear things up, Ayurveda does not have cosmetics but it does have a host of natural products that are safe to use on your skin for a variety of skin conditions or for just looking great. Short of actually being allergic to the base material, most Ayurvedic beauty products are free of side effects.
Here are a few products to try that can help your skin:
Chandan Powder or Sandalwood Powder is used for a variety of skin conditions and can be used to naturally beautify your skin. The powder is used to treat blemishes, rashes, pox marks as well as acne. It has a cooling effect which is great for the summertime and calming your Pitta dosha.
For Acne we recommend:
Add a few drops of rose water to create a paste. Apply over acne spots before bedtime. Make sure to rinse when you wake up.
Mix 1 tbsp with turmeric powder and chandan powder and add 1 tsp of lime juice. Apply all over your skin. Leave for about 20 minutes and rinse thoroughly. You may also use sandalwood oil to massage after.
Aloe vera is well-known for its healing, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. It can be used to treat anything from burns to acne, and like sandalwood powder, it has a cooling effect. Aloe vera can also be used to treat skin conditions like psoriasis. We recommend aloe vera as a daily staple to any skin care or beauty care routine.
Simply apply the gel as a moisturizer on your skin. You can even use it as a base before applying make up to ensure your skin remains moisturized while you have make up on.
One thing to really keep in mind when it comes to skin care is that what you put inside of you is a reflection of how you look on the outside. Eating healthy naturally purifies your blood, and exercising can speed up the detox process plus release endorphins that can make you feel amazing. When you feel amazing you will look amazing.
