Chandraprabha Bati acts like a nutritive tonic, antacid,
laxative, diaphoretic and useful as a diuretic, for
albuminuria and renal calculi. It is also indicated in
gonorrhoea, pruritis vulva, lumbago and chicken pox.
Main ingredients of Chandraprabha Bati
:
Chandan (Santalum album) :
It is used for purifying for bladder infections, cystitis,
kidney or bladder inflammation or congestion, pelvic and
prostrate congestion.
Sandalwood is also used for abdominal pain,
burning sensation, difficulty in swallowing, stomach pain,
headache, abnormal thirst, vomiting, heat and sunstroke, gonorrhea, and excessive sex
drive.
Shilajit (Asphaltum) :
Shilajit is especially
employed in genito-urinary diseases like anasarca renal stone,
renal and bladder calculi and anuria. It is indicated in
diabetes where it reduces the quantity of sugar in urine, in
nervous diseases like hysteria, neuresthenia, epilepsy and
insanity, in uterine troubles like amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea
and menorrhagia. It is also indicated in respiratory diseases
like asthma, tuberculosis, phthisis, in hepatic and
gastrointestinal diseases like gall stone, jaundice, enlarged
spleen, fermentive dyspepsia and also in diseases like
leprosy, eczema and elephantisis. It is also beneficial in
bone fracture.
Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia)
It is an antiperiodic,
alterative and a diuretic. Its stem and root are valuable
tonic in debilitating diseases, intermittent fever and
dyspepsia. Chief constituents are berberine, bitter substance.
Kapoor kachri (Hedychium spicatum)
Root is employed as
stomachic, carminative, bitter, tonic and stimulant, useful in
dyspepsia. It contains starch, cellulose, mucilage, albumen,
saccharine matter, acid resin, fixed oil, essential methyl
paracumarin acetate and an odorous body.
Bach (Sweet flag, Acorus calamus)
Root and rhizome are
stimulant, emetic, nauseant, stomachic, aromatic, expectorant,
carminative, antispasmodic and nervine sedative. In large
doses it produces violent and persistent emesis.
Haldi (Curcuma longa)
Curcuma longa has been
shown to possess antiarthritic activity. Curcumine combines
the chloretic and hydrocholagogic action in addition to
antiseptic property and it is envisaged that this will be an
ideal therapeutic agent in conditions of the biliary system
and gall bladder where staphycoccal infection exists.
Curcuma longa also
possesses antibacterial activity against gram positive and
gram negative organism which was less as compared to
penicillin and streptomycin.
Daru haldi (Berbery, Berberis aristata)
Root and wood are rich in
a yellow alkaloid “berberine”, a bitter substance, which
dissolves in acid and forms salts of the alkaloid. Root
contains two more alkaloids. It is very useful in cases of
remittent as well as intermittent fever and also in debility
consequent there from. Decoction with emblic myrabolan is
useful in painful micturation from bilious or acid urine. In
combination with other Ayurvedic medicines it is given in
leucorrhoea and menorrhagia.
