Origin of Herbs:
The roots are unearthed in the autumn of the
fourth season. It is grown in India, Spain,
Iran, Russia, China & Italy.
Plant Description:
Tall,
upright hairless perennial, 1.2-1.8m tall.
Leaves pinnate with 9-17 leaflets. Flowers
pale blue, pea-like.
Healing power:
Glycyrrhiza is widely used in acidity and
bronchial problems such as catarrh, bronchitis, cold, flu and
coughs. It reduces irritation of the throat and yet has an
expectorant action. It is also used in relieving stress.
Glycyrrhiza is also effective in helping to reduce fevers. Its use
in the treatment of chronic inflammations such as arthritis and
rheumatic diseases, Anti-inflammatory, chronic skin conditions
etc.
Acidity :
Most
effective anti-ulcer herb, gives miraculous
results in acid peptic disorders. It is very
effective in treating pain due to stomach
ulcers, as it soothes the irritation caused
by acids.
Gastritis:
This herb is a demulcent (soothing, coating
agent) that has long been valued for its use
in food and medicinal remedies, including
treatments for stomach ailments.
Other Uses:
It is
widely used in bronchial problems such as
catarrh, bronchitis and coughs in general.
It nourishes the brain increasing cranial
and cerebrospinal fluid. It also improves
complexion, hair and vision. Yastimadhu also
helps in cases of abdominal pain,
bronchitis, colds, coughs, laryngitis and
general debility. It acts as a heart tonic,

muscle spasms, sore throat, ulcers and
painful urination.
