The
body, mind and spirit thrive if you nurture them. Because
they are all interlinked into one being—you—optimum health
can only be achieved when all three areas are balanced. The
body needs healthy food and exercise. The mind needs
stimulation and challenge. But, what about the spirit? Here
are five ways you can improve your spiritual health.
1. Feed a hobby or passion
Spending time—even if it’s just an hour a week—doing
something you love excites the spirit. A good place to
start is remembering what you loved to do as a child or what
brings you joy as an adult.
2. Be
still
Whether it’s meditation, prayer or yoga, anything that
stops the constant chatter in your mind will help you to relax
and open your spirit to new possibilities and ideas in your
life.
3. Take
a vacation
Time off can be a day trip, a long weekend or a two-week
excursion. Any time you remove yourself from your daily
routine, you are renewing your spirit. And, never work
during a vacation! What’s the point?
4. Learn
something new
Is there something you’ve wanted to learn about all your
life, but never got around to? There’s no better time
than the present. This could develop into a new hobby or
passion.
5. Make
someone else happy
Volunteer for a non-profit. Give someone a gift for
no reason. Compliment another person. Mark Twain said,
“The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer
somebody else up.”Doing good for others make you feel good
from the inside out.
